This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar tracking technologies are, how KidsClub uses them on the KidsClub.hk platform (the “Platform”), and how you can manage your cookie preferences. This Policy should be read together with KidsClub’s Privacy Policy, which provides further detail about how KidsClub handles personal data collected through or in connection with the use of cookies.
1.1 Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, smartphone, or other internet-enabled device) when you visit or interact with a website. Cookies allow the website to recognise your device, remember your preferences and actions over time, and provide functionality that depends on tracking user sessions.
1.2 Cookies do not typically contain information that directly identifies you by name. However, the information that cookies collect — such as your IP address, device identifiers, and browsing behaviour on the Platform — may, in certain circumstances, constitute personal data within the meaning of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486, Laws of Hong Kong) (“PDPO”). Where cookie-related data constitutes personal data, it is handled in accordance with KidsClub’s Privacy Policy.
1.3 In addition to cookies, the Platform may use other similar tracking technologies, including web beacons (also known as pixel tags), local storage, and session storage, which operate in a similar way to cookies. References to “cookies” in this Policy include these similar technologies where the context so requires.
2.1 KidsClub uses cookies for the following primary purposes:
2.2 KidsClub does not currently use advertising cookies or cookies that track your activity across third-party websites for the purpose of serving targeted advertising. If this changes, this Cookie Policy will be updated and, where required, your consent will be sought.
3.1 Essential cookies are those that are strictly necessary for the Platform to function. Without these cookies, services that you have requested, such as logging in to your account, completing a Booking, and processing a payment, cannot be provided. These cookies do not require your consent to be placed on your device, as they are required for the provision of the service you have requested.
3.2 Essential cookies used on the Platform include:
These maintain your login session and allow the Platform to recognise you as you navigate between pages during a single visit. Session cookies are temporary and expire when you close your browser.
These help protect the Platform from cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks and other security threats. They are set by the Platform’s WordPress infrastructure and are strictly necessary for the security of User accounts and transactions.
These remember that you are logged in to your account, so that you do not need to re-enter your credentials on every page. They are set at login and expire at the end of your session or after a defined inactivity period.
These are set by the Platform’s hosting infrastructure to distribute user traffic across servers and to maintain Platform stability. They are technically necessary for reliable Platform delivery.
4.1 Functional cookies enable the Platform to remember choices you have made — such as your language preference, previously entered search parameters, or account settings — and to provide enhanced functionality based on those preferences. Functional cookies are not strictly necessary for the Platform to operate but they significantly improve your experience.
4.2 Functional cookies used on the Platform may include:
These remember display and navigation preferences you have set, such as your language or region, so that they are preserved across visits.
These temporarily retain activity search parameters, location filters, and age group selections that you have entered, so that your search state is preserved as you navigate through the Platform.
The Platform is built on WordPress and uses certain WordPress-specific cookies to manage logged-in user sessions, account preferences, and administrative functions. These include cookies prefixed with “wordpress_” and “wp-settings”.
5.1 Analytics cookies help KidsClub understand how Users interact with the Platform by collecting information about pages visited, links clicked, time spent on pages, error messages encountered, and the general usage patterns of the Platform. This information is used in aggregated, anonymised, or pseudonymised form to improve the Platform’s design, content, and functionality.
5.2 Analytics cookies do not collect information that can directly identify you by name. However, they may collect IP addresses and device identifiers that could, in combination with other data, constitute personal data under the PDPO.
5.3 Analytics tools that may be used on the Platform include:
If KidsClub uses Google Analytics, it collects information about your use of the Platform, including which pages you visit, how long you spend on each page, how you arrived at the Platform, and technical information about your device and browser. Google Analytics data is processed by Google in accordance with Google’s privacy policy. KidsClub configures Google Analytics to anonymise IP addresses where technically practicable.
The WordPress platform may provide built-in visit and traffic data tools. These are used only for aggregate traffic reporting purposes.
5.4 You may opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Opting out of analytics cookies does not affect your ability to use the core functionality of the Platform.
6.1 The Platform’s payment checkout is powered by Stripe, which sets its own cookies in connection with the payment process. Stripe’s cookies are essential to the functioning of the payment checkout and cannot be disabled without preventing payment transactions from completing.
6.2 Stripe uses cookies for the following purposes in connection with its payment services:
6.3 Stripe’s cookies are set by Stripe, not by KidsClub. They are governed by Stripe’s own Cookie Policy and Privacy Policy, which are available at stripe.com. KidsClub does not control, access, or modify Stripe’s cookies.
6.4 Stripe is a global payment processor and its cookies may involve cross-border data processing. Please refer to Stripe’s Privacy Policy for details of Stripe’s data transfer and retention practices.
7.1 The Platform may include links to or integrations with Meta products and services, including Meta social plugins, Meta Pixel, or Meta Messenger. Where such integrations are present, Meta may set its own cookies when you interact with those features.
7.2 Meta cookies may be used by Meta for the following purposes:
7.3 Meta’s cookies are set by Meta and are governed by Meta’s Cookie Policy and Privacy Policy. KidsClub does not control Meta’s cookie practices. If you have concerns about Meta’s use of your data, please review Meta’s privacy documentation at facebook.com or instagram.com as applicable.
7.4 If KidsClub uses Meta Pixel to measure the effectiveness of any advertising on Meta platforms, this will be disclosed in an updated version of this Cookie Policy, and consent will be sought where required.
8.1 Cookies may be categorised by their duration as follows:
Session cookies are temporary and exist only for the duration of your current browser session. They are automatically deleted when you close your browser.
Persistent cookies remain on your device after you close your browser, for a period defined in the cookie’s expiry date. They are used to remember your preferences or to recognise your device on subsequent visits. KidsClub’s persistent cookies are generally set to expire within twelve (12) months, unless a shorter or longer period is technically required or prescribed by the relevant third-party cookie provider.
9.1 You have several options for managing, restricting, or deleting cookies placed on your device:
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings, including the ability to block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, delete existing cookies, and receive notifications before cookies are placed. The steps for managing cookies vary by browser. Please consult your browser’s help documentation for guidance. Note that blocking essential cookies may prevent you from completing Bookings or accessing core Platform features.
As noted in Section 5.4, you may opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. This prevents Google Analytics from collecting information about your visits to the Platform.
You may manage cookies set by Stripe and Meta through their respective privacy dashboards and cookie controls, accessible through their privacy policy pages at stripe.com and the relevant Meta platform.
9.2 Please note that restricting or deleting cookies may affect your experience of the Platform, including your ability to remain logged in, complete Bookings, and access certain features. KidsClub accepts no responsibility for reduced functionality arising from a User’s choice to restrict or delete cookies.
10.1 KidsClub may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies used on the Platform, changes in applicable law or regulatory guidance, or changes in the Platform’s third-party integrations. Any update will be posted on the Platform with a revised last updated date.
10.2 Where a change is material — for example, where KidsClub introduces new categories of cookies that were not previously in use — KidsClub will provide reasonable advance notice through the Platform or by email to registered Users.
